Want to come and help us start a new church in Metchosin? This is going to be a cool adventure in building new relationships. And a chance to pursue the ancient spirituality of Jesus in the context of contemporary worship and service. Check out our website to find out who we are and what we're doing in Metchosin!
The Story of Westsong in Metchosin
We hope you had a chance to connect with us at Metchosin Day on September 13, 2009. We had a booth there with animals and crafts, cookies and cool water and a great western theme throughout. It was fun! We think church should include some fun!
Then we held an event called "Hot Church, Cool Jazz" on Sunday evening, Oct. 18. With free coffee and dessert and some great local entertainment, it was lots of fun. There were 60 people who came out to find out a little bit more about Westsong. Check out some of these pics of the evening.
On October 30 we hosted a fun movie evening featuring the brand new film, Thou Shalt Laugh (4). Six stand up comedians gave us their humorous take on the world. It was free, family friendly and it happened at our very own Isabelle Reader Theatre.
We've also started up two (count 'em, 2!) discussion groups based on the video series, H2O. Click the link for more info.
The Community Christmas Dinner (Nov 29) was a wonderful opportunity to serve the West Shore, and we had volunteers from Metchosin there too! A couple of weeks later we sponsored a Christmas Pancake Breakfast supporting the Metchosin PreSchool. We had a great time getting to know some of the families and staff of the PreSchool, and enjoyed putting on a delicious spread of pancakes, sausages and Yvonne's special strawberry sauce! Donations from the breakfast were given to the school.
If you missed our Pacific Island Celebration on January 22 then you missed a fun evening of Fijian music and dancing. And did we mention the fruit and the chocolate fountain? Yum. And if you missed our Family Barn Dance ... what a hoot! Muriel did a great job of getting folks up and shakin' a leg. And Miah taught us some Hannah Montana moves that got everyone smiling! Good chili, too!
There is still more to come.

H.O.M.E. Groups (Homes Open for Ministry and Encouragement)
We'd love to start up a HOME group with you. That stands for Homes Open for Ministry and Encouragement! Nice, eh?! These groups are places where we can talk about Jesus and the spirituality that he introduced to the world. It's okay to ask questions - even hard ones. We think if something is true it should be able to handle tough questions! Our church is built on the foundation of Jesus and his Word, the Bible. Contact our Discipleship Pastor, Isobel Wagner.
So don't be shy! Let's hang out together and see what God has in store for us in Metchosin!
Isobel Wagner, Discipleship Pastor
